Moto Club Baix Berguedà
Motoclub Baix Berguedà was set up in May 1994, as a result of the wish of organising the races which friends of motorbikes from Casserres had held since 1987 in a more regular and correct way. The motocross and resistance race in the main party was never missing…
That year 94, the first board of the new motoclub was already formed by several members from Berguedà and, little by little, we have achieved great collaboration of enthusiasts from all the area, and there is currently a representation of five towns among the members of this board.
Motoclub Baix Berguedà has probably become one of the most “hard-working” in Catalonia; we have been organising more than 20 races per year for some seasons. In them, nearly all specialities like endurance races, motocross, trials, courses for children, dirt-track, resistance, scooters… are included.
It is remarkable to say that the institution has had, since 1998, a permanent motocross track in the town of Olvan, where we hold the events of Spain and Catalonia championship of this speciality.
This track has very good facilities, with a closed park place for more than 150 vehicles, washing set for 40 motorbikes, light in boxes, toilets and WC, watering by sprinklers in all the track, bar service, etc. which are available to all the institution members.
The board work is partially rewarded by the great amount of members, currently next to 300, most of who are not from Berguedà, and this shows a well-done work, because they are enthusiasts who enjoy the events and services that our motoclub offers.
One of the current problems for the board is getting the necessary budget to keep on working every season, as collaborations from town halls in the area are scarce and in some towns practically null. This involves an additional work in order to find sponsors and collaborations to subsidize such an extensive calendar of events.
We have had remarkable pilots who have been in our institution both as members or racers who train in the motoclub facilities, and we could name as an example Marc Coma, Miki Arpa, Javi Garcia Vico, Gerard Farrés, Francesc Cucharrera, Carla Calderer, Joan Cros, Roger Ballús, Dani Llobet, Rafa Garcia, Arnau Vilanova, Joan “Nani” Roma, Marc Calmt, Pep Ribera, Josep Alonso, Laia Sanz, Pere Borrelles, Ramon Serra, David Boixala, Ramon Salvans, Nil Arcarons, Lluís Riera, Pol Torres... and a long list of elite national racers.
